About

Mama Ghita’s is a family home in Rabat Morocco, grounded in a tradition of generous hospitality. A place where people were welcomed not only to eat but to stay, to rest and to feel cared for in every sense.

The home is shaped by the life and legacy of Mama Ghita, whose way of receiving others was marked by warmth, attentiveness and quiet devotion. That way of living did not end with her. It continues through her family, who carry this hospitality forward because it is what she wished and how she lived.

The family’s story also includes Mohammad Alami, beloved husband and father to Mama Ghita and her ten children. His memory remains part of the home and the family life that continues within it.

Today, Mama Ghita’s opens its doors to small gatherings and retreats, held gently within the rhythms of the home. Hospitality here is lived day by day, shared across generations and care is something you feel, not something that is explained.

Our retreats arise in different forms throughout the year, sometimes centred around a particular moment, theme, or teacher, and sometimes simply as an invitation to come together, to slow down, and to share time within the rhythm of family life.

Some gatherings are held within the family home in Rabat. Others include time spent beyond the city, travelling together to places such as Fes, Meknes, or Jabal al-ʿAlam, the mountain associated with Moulay Abdessalam Ibn Mashish. Each gathering carries its own tone and focus, while remaining rooted in simplicity, hospitality, and presence.

Upcoming Retreats

Ramadan Retreat 2026
14th-21st March

During the month of Ramadan Mama Ghita’s will host a small and intimate retreat held within the hospitality of the Alami family. These days are offered as a space to slow down, to be nourished and to rest within shared worship, remembrance, contemplation and companionship. Time is shaped around the natural rhythm of Ramadan, including prayer, Qur’an recitation, time in the mosque, shared iftar and moments of quiet reflection. The retreat unfolds gently within family life, allowing space for rest, connection and inward attention. Laylat al-Qadr and Eid al-Fitr are observed with care and reverence, held within the wider rhythm of the community. Further practical details can be found here. If you feel drawn to this gathering, you are warmly invited to reach out at salam@mamaghitas.com
